Test Code LAB17623 ANAPLASMA AND BABESIA TESTING BY PCR

Important Note

This test is not intended to be used for treatment monitoring of known positive patients.

Babesia species detected (but not differentiated) in this assay include Babesia microti, Babesia duncani, Babesia divergens, Babesia sp. strain MO-1, and Babesia sp. strain EU-1.  Detection of any of these Babesia species is reported as "Babesia species detected." without further differentiation.

If positive for Babesia species, this test will reflex to a Parasite Exam, Blood for percent parasitemia calculation and reporting.  

This test is subject to reflex testing, see Laboratory Reflex Testing Policy, You have the option to decline reflex testing if you believe it is not medically necessary.
