Important Note

Hepatitis C Antibody is subject to reflex testing, see Laboratory Reflex Testing Policy.  You have the option to decline reflex testing if you believe it is not medically necessary.  If Hepatitis C antibody is reactive, HCV RNA Detection Quantitation by PCR will be performed at an additional charge.  For preventative screening on asymptomatic patients, Hep C Ab would be subject to Medicare Preventative Service Coverage Policy for Hep C screening (NCD 210.13).

Samples testing positive for Hepatitis B Surface Antigen will have confirmatory testing at an additional charge.  For preventative screening on asymptomatic patients, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen would be subject to Medicare Preventative Service Coverage Policy for screening for Sexually Transmitted infections (STI's) and High Intensity Behavioral Counseling (HIBC) To prevent STI's.
