Hematology/Oncology and Pathology use only.

The Genomic Medicine Laboratory at the UVM Medical Center offers target capture-based next generation sequencing of up to 151 genes, including both DNA and RNA targets, that have clinical utility across a broad spectrum of hematologic neoplasms. Selection of a gene list is based on clinical indication and disease type. Three established panels are currently available for evaluation:

  • Myeloid neoplasms: 93 gene panel
  • Acute lymphoblastic leukemia: 71 gene panel
  • Lymphoma:  77 gene panel

The test is validated for bone marrow aspirates, whole blood, non-cell block cytology slides (Pap or MGG), and formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue.  Other samples may be accepted with Pathologist approval.

This testing is subject to the LCD - Genomic Sequence Analysis Panels in the Treatment of Hematolymphoid Diseases (L37606) (cms.gov) policy.  An ABN would be needed as the testing of greater than 50 genes is not covered per this LCD.
