Nasopharyngeal (NP) Swab collection:
1. Insert the tip of the floqswab swab into a nostril to obtain a specimen from the posterior nasopharynx.
2. Pass the NP swab through the nares. Do not force the swab; Resistance will be felt when the posterior nasopharynx is reached.
3. Rotate the swab and leave it in place for 10-30 seconds or until the patient coughs
4. Withdraw the swab and place in the viral transport media. Make sure liquid medium covers the swab tip.
5. Break or cut the end of the swab and screw the vial lid on tightly.
