Test Code LAB3625 FECAL BACTERIAL PATHOGENS BY PCR

Important Note

Acceptable: fecal sample in Cary Blair media stored at 2-8 C (Refrigerated) for up to 72 hours.


Microbiology testing for bacterial fecal pathogens (Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter, and Shiga toxin producing E.coli) will be performed using the Panther Fusion instrument and results will be available within 24 hours.


If there is concern for an unusual bacterial fecal pathogen that is not included in this PCR test (ie: Yersinia or Vibrio), a separate specimen and required Clinical Test Request Form can be sent to the Vermont Department of Health Laboratory; call VDHL at (802)338-4724 with questions pertaining to this testing.
