Test Code LAB3625 FECAL BACTERIAL PATHOGENS BY PCR

Important Note

Acceptable in Cary Blair media or sterile container for 24 hours at ambient temperatures and 4 days if refrigerated. 

Microbiology testing for bacterial fecal pathogens (Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter,
and Shiga toxin producing E.coli) will be performed using the BD Max instrument and results will be available within 24 hours.
If there is concern for an unusual bacterial fecal pathogen that is not included in this PCR test (ie: Yersinia or Vibrio), a separate specimen and required Clinical Test Request Form can be sent to the Vermont Department of Health Laboratory; call VDHL at (802)338-4724 with questions pertaining to this testing.
