To order this test via the Vermont Dept of Health:   

  1. Provider to discuss with VT Dept of Health Epidemiology at 802-863-7240
  2. Provider to complete VDH requisition
  3. UVMMC lab may have a few measles kits on hand – if not, kits can be ordered via the VDH
  4. Provider to perform collection in their clinic – do not send patients with suspected measles infections to go any outpatient lab
  5. Completed kits may be sent to UVMMC lab for delivery to the VT State lab for testing

Specimen Information

For the measles real time PCR test, throat (oropharyngeal), nasal or NP (nasopharyngeal) swabs are the preferred specimen types.
