Test Code LAB3641 NAT DONOR SCREENING , MBC

Important Note

NAT Donor screening testing sample can be performed on whole blood if received by MBC within 72 hours of collection.

UVMMC sends to MBC Mondays through Fridays ONLY using MBC-provided kit.

Samples collected Friday evenings after 5 pm, Saturdays, or on a holiday weekend MUST have EDTA tubes spun at 2700 rpms for 20 minutes, plasma removed from the primary EDTA tubes.  Transfer tubes should be labeled with 2 identifiers, date and time samples collected, and write "PLASMA" on the aliquots, and the MBC form MUST have the date and time the plasma was removed from the RBCs documented on the requisition.  Samples will be sent out FROZEN on dry ice either Monday or the day after the holiday by the day shift using MBC-provided shipping kit, but adding dry ice, dry ice sticker, and following shipping with dry ice instructions.
